Dr. David Rodemaker (he/they) is a graduate of the clinical psychology program at Chicago School of Professional Psychology where he also took a concentration in Multicultural and Community Psychology. His started working with polyamory and consensual non-monogamy at the Center on Halsted during his training there. His interdisciplinary dissertation "Altsex: The Clinician's Guide to BDSM" looks at working clinically with the population of individuals who practice BDSM as an issue of cultural competency rather than automatically assuming individual pathology. Dr. Rodemaker has presented on issues of clinical practice, sexual consent, and diversity around the issues of sexual minorities across the country. He is also the co-author of "What Professionals Need To Know About BDSM" produced by the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, and contributed the chapter "Understanding Therapy Issues Outside Egalitarian Relationships" for the book "Unequal by Design: Counseling Power Dynamic Relationships" edited by Raven Kaldera and Dr. Sabrina Popp. Currently Dr. Rodemaker works in private practice in the suburbs of Chicago doing both individual and relational therapy, and can be found at www.entelekea.com.
